Give by Cell Powers Text Donation Campaign for the Municipal Art Society of New York's "Tribute In Light" Annual Installation
The Municipal Art Society of New York will launch a Give by Cell mobile giving campaign in conjunction with this year's Tribute in Light installation. Donors can text "TRIBUTE" to 20222 to make a $10 donation to the annual 9/11 memorial.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Municipal Art Society of New York (MAS) will launch a Give by Cell mobile giving campaign in conjunction with this year's Tribute in Light installation.

MAS first presented Tribute in Light on March 11, 2002, six months after the World Trade Center attacks. Considered by many to be one of the most powerful and healing works of public art ever conceived, Tribute in Light was co-founded by MAS and Creative Time, and is now presented annually by MAS on September 11.

"Tribute in Light has become an international symbol of remembrance and hope, honoring both the victims of the attacks and all those who worked tirelessly to help New York City through its greatest trial," said MAS president Vin Cipolla. "It is a testament to the profound losses we suffered that day and to our city's determination to persevere."

As the Municipal Art Society prepares for this year's illumination, the organization has launched a fundraising campaign to secure the future of Tribute in Light as funding for this memorial is not guaranteed beyond 2011. MAS has turned to Give by Cell's text message donation service as a fundraising channel. Anyone with a cell phone will be able to donate $10 by texting "TRIBUTE" to 20222, with the donation billed to their next monthly cell phone bill.

The mobile giving program allows people to give 24/7, all year round, and help keep the lights shining beyond this year's 10th anniversary.
