Rhemila Smith Announces Move to Past President Status in 2012
During 2011, Rhemila Smith served as president of the Human Resource Association of Broward County, a local affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL, December 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- During 2011, Rhemila Smith served as president of the Human Resource Association of Broward County, a local affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management. According to the bylaws of the organization, the President serves a one-year term. This means that Rhemila Smith will hand off the presidency in the beginning of 2012.

"It's been an amazing opportunity and it was a privilege to serve the chapter in this leadership capacity," says Rhemila Smith. "I know my successor is capable and competent ; he willdo an amazing job running our association in 2012."

The Human Resource Association of Broward County ensures that leadership transitions like this will be seamless which is why there is a 3 year Presidential "Lifecycle" (President Elect, President and Past President). When a new President is installed, the previous President stays on the board as Immediate Past President and provides guidance and continuity. "I will still be involved in many of the decisions the organization makes," says Rhemila Smith. "It's part of the obligation I took on when I became President, and I'm looking forward to supporting the incoming President's initiatives from the "passenger seat"."

"When I stepped into the role of President for the first time, my 2 years of service on the Board of Directors which I spent in observation came in handy. I knew what techniques and tacticsworked well and which ones didn't. It was an incredible opportunity for me to lead an dynamic group of 16 which consisted of HR practitioners, attorneys and consultants who volunteered their time and service in the unique manner that came natural to me."

The Human Resource Association of Broward County has been in existence since 1968 and is dedicated to the advancement of human resource professionals throughout the county. "We're always looking for new members," says Rhemila Smith. "Anyone who works in the industry and lives in the county is welcome to join. We'd love to have you!"
